Valentine's Day

I was thinking about Valentine's day...
I saw, on my facebook page, that some of my friends have written some sentences like: "oh, I love you! Thank you for that romantic evening, for the red rose, for this present etc."...
I think that if you are really in love with someone you don't have to say "thank you, I love you" to him/her only because your partner has prepared you a special dinner or bought you a rose or a jewel on Valentine's day, it's not romantic, it's stupid...
I think that those people are very material and opportunists, it seems that they are killing the romance...

Do we really need a special day to say "I love you" to our partner?
